Emily Peachey Returns to the Big Screen in 'Strange Weather," Starring Holly Hunter

LOS ANGELES, Calif. –  Known for her compelling role in the teen drama “The Fault in Our Stars,” with Shailene Woodley and last fall’s Ewan McGregor film “American Pastoral,” actress Emily Peachey returns to the Big Screen in the film drama “Strange Weather,” starring Holly Hunter. The film is now playing in select cities. 

“I am thrilled to be a part of such a meaningful film with such a very talented cast,” Peachey said. “It’s a great story that is very engaging and captivating and will pull at your heartstrings. I am very blessed to have had the experience.”

Written and directed by Katherine Dieckmann, “Strange Weather” is a poignant, lyrical drama about a mother (Hunter), who, in an effort to deal with the grief over the death of her son, travels the back roads of the deep south to settle a score. A story of grief and forgiveness, of looking inward to find a way to move forward. 

Portraying a young receptionist at a corporation that was built on the work stolen from a young man who died tragically, Peachey shares vital screen time with award-winning actress Holly Hunter.

“It was such an honor to work with an academy award-winner and somebody who is so well respected in the industry and who has done such amazing work,” Peachey said. “She did such a phenomenal job in this film that it’s truly a treat to watch. The entire cast was energized to be on set with her and help create this amazing movie.”

Shot on location in Mississippi, the film, features a cast that includes Carrie Coon (“Gone Girl”), Ransom Ashley (“Sense of Urgency”), Walker Babington (“The Magnificent Seven”), Craig Boe (“Heart, Baby”) and Kim Coates (“Sons of Anarchy”).

Born in Springfield, VA., Emily Peachey grew up an exceptional student with a passion for acting and the theater. She would go on to attend Duquesne University in Pittsburgh where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Communications. But even as she remained passionate about acting, she chose to enroll in law school with the goal of becoming a lawyer. It soon became evident her heart was still in acting despite her dedication to her studies. She then left law school and turned her attention to acting professionally. 

It wasn’t long before she landed a key starring role in the teen drama “The Fault in Our Stars,” starring Shailene Woodley (“Divergent”), Ansel Elgort (“Insurgent”) and Laura Dern (“Jurassic Park”). The role would lead to parts in HBO’s “Veep,” and MTV’s “Awkward,” as well as the film “Gearheads,” and the upcoming films “Tar,” with Timothy Bottoms and Graham Greene, and “Fishbowl,” with Judith Hoag and Mackenzie Astin.
