LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Veteran music producer Andrew Lane known for his work on “Hanna
Montana” is set to produce the upcoming off Broadway musical play “Main
Stage.”
“I’m very excited to join
with many talented artists, both in front of and behind the camera, and create
a magical musical experience on the Big Screen,” Lane said. “‘Main Stage’ will
be a compelling motion picture that combines a coming of age story with some
amazing musical dance numbers with our talented young cast.”
Starring Stephanie
Ferrett (“Madea Gets a Job”), and 18-year-old Grammy Award-winning Puerto
Rico-born reggaeton singer Miguel Angel Valenzuela Morales, known as Miguelito,
the movie was written by Doreen Spicer and Daniel Curtis Lee (“The Proud
Family”). Spicer will also direct and produce. Production will begin in summer
2019.
“Main Stage” tells the
story of Hailey, a young dancer who has a huge show in one month, but she has
one major problem – she doesn’t have enough money to prepare for the show so
she decides to use all her singing and dancing skills to raise the needed
funds. But even she realizes it may not be enough.
“It’s an exciting story
with plenty of action and great music that makes for a great combination of
film and musical theater – all done Broadway style, with tons of dancers,
expansive sets and great music!” Lane said. “We’re very grateful to have
Stephanie bring her great energy that compliments the unique musical talent of
Miguelito who has thrilled audiences around the world!”
The cast also includes
Tim Johnson Jr., the teenage star of the new Jason Alexander-created comedy “Hit
the Road” on the Audience Network and formerly of Disney XD’s “Kirby Buckets.”
Produced the Lane’s Drew
Right Music imprint, the
film brings forth his musical sensibilities that were at the heart of Lane’s
work on Disney’s “Hannah Montana,” and “High School Musical.” “Main Stage” also
taps the talents of noted choreographer Phlex Alan Kirk, who has worked with
Beyonce, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and many others.
The play is executive
produced by music industry veteran Russ Regan, former president for UNI Records
and 20th Century Records who also worked with Motown and Polygram Records and who
is among the few record executives with number 1 records in four consecutive
decades, from 1970 to 2000s.
Lane is a multi-platinum
and Billboard Award-winning music producer who has worked with such artists as
Lisa Left Eye Lopes, Backstreet Boys, and Keith Sweat; Russian pop star Alsou
and others. His past work includes such films as “Hannah Montana,” “High School
Musical,” “Bring It On: In It to Win It,” as well as serving as a consultant
for NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”
