LOS
ANGELES – Melissa McCarthy has signed on to produce, but not star in
New Line’s “Super-Intelligence” from writer/producer Steve Mallory (“The
Boss”).
The
movie, to be directed by Ben Falcone, is said to be a buddy comedy in
keeping with McCarthy’s past films like “The Heat” and “Spy,” with a
backdrop of artificial intelligence. The film marks the second time
McCarthy works with Mallory and Falcone after collaborating on “The
Boss,” which grossed $78.8 million last year.
The
joins the New Line comedy “Life of the Party” on the slate, which also
stars McCarthy and is directed by Falcone. That film is set for release
on May 11, 2018. McCarthy will next be appearing on Fox Searchlight’s
“Can You Ever Forgive Me,” from writer/producer Nicole Holofcenter who
will also produce.
