LOS ANGELES - The trailer for the 20th Century Fox
“Independence Day” sequel, “Resurgence,” has arrived, featuring lots of
explosions, scenes of death and destruction.
“Resurgence”
is the sequel to Roland Emmerich’s 1996 science fiction blockbuster
starring Will Smith, who incidentally, does not return to this new
sequel.
The cast includes
Vivica A. Fox, Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Maika
Monroe, Judd Hirsch, Sela Ward and Charlotte Gainsbourg along with Bill
Pullman, who played President Thomas J. Whitmore in the original film.
The
new film tells the story of a now united Earth must face a new alient
threat that appears even more formidable than the original aliens who
devastated the planet before being vanquished by a coalition of nations
and a rag-tag group of military pilots.
The new installment is set for release on June 24, 2016.
