LOS ANGELES, Calif. –  Known for her portrayals of brilliant scientists, dedicated mothers and powerful businesswomen, acclaimed actress Julia Parker portrays Patricia Sikora Cochran, famed attorney Johnny Cochran’s mistress in “The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” airing at 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific on Tuesdays on FX.

The 10-part series stars Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson, Courtney V. Vance as Johnny Cochran, John Travolta as attorney Robert Shapiro and Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark, in a re-examination of the sensational court case, often referred to as the “Trial of the Century.”

“It was one of the best sets I’ve ever been on. They used a ton of stages at 20th Century Fox to create this show and I knew this was going to be an amazing experience,” Parker said. “There were a lot of very talented people who really brought the story to life.”

Portraying Patricia Sikora Cochran, the mistress of Simpson’s lead defense attorney Johnny Cochran, Parker took on the role of a problematic woman who struggled to come to terms with the impact the trial would have on her and the world. The real Patricia Sikora Cochran was a young blonde who hired the famed attorney to handle her divorce, but that initial contact would later turn into a decades-long affair between the two. Ultimately, she would take his surname and bear him a son even while he was married. She eventually sued Johnny Cochran for palimony before settling the matter for an undisclosed sum in 2004.

“I did a lot of research to find out more about her, but it was very difficult since she kept a low profile,” Parker recalled. “Playing a real person who was so private was a real challenge, but I was fortunate to work opposite Angela Gibbs (“Straight Outta Compton”) who is an amazing actress.”
Parker’s ability to portray a real individual is not new for the actress. She portrayed murdered flight attendant Debbie Walsh in the film “Flight 93: The Flight that Fought Back,” a docudrama on how passengers fought back against terrorists during the takeover of a United Airlines Boeing 757-200 on 9/11.

With a background that includes television appearances in the CW’s “90210,” “Episodes,” “Go On,” and an upcoming episode of “CSI: Cyber” and others, Parker is recognizable face to many viewers. Her past work includes the films “Ribbons,” “Grace of God,” “Alien Armageddon,” “Ashes,” and the upcoming comedy “Merry Exes,” starring Tammin Sursok of ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars.” She is also set to begin filming the gritty drama “Maria de Luna” next month where she portrays an immigration agent.

Born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Parker moved to Boston at 10 and soon caught the acting bug and began appearing in plays and other productions at her school. Following her graduation from the University of New Hampshire, the young blonde began studying acting while embarking on a modeling career that included such brands as Catalina Swimwear, Nike and many others. Eventually, she decided to pursue acting full time and moved to Los Angeles where her skills came to bear when she earned a series regular role in the travel series “Distant Roads” in 1990 and as host of a number of popular infomercials for a variety of products.

“The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” is produced by Writer/Producer Scott Alexander, Executive Producers Dante Di Loreto, Brad Falchuk and Nina Jacobson; created and written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski from the book “The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” by Jeffrey Toobin. It was directed by Ryan Murphy and Anthony Hemingway. The series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.
